She & Him

I'm very much in l-o-v-e with She & Him, and usually spend about one day a week pretending I'm Zooey Deschanel dancing around my old school in this music video. Or at least a background dancer.

a list

This weekend, I...

celebrated the wedding of a dear friend...and really, the wonderful friendships of many
attended a nephew's baptism
ate a lot of cookies
spent time with grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, and nephews
bought some fabric (for practice on the recently acquired, old Bernina baby sitting on my floor...holy macrol!)
enjoyed the simplicity of life.

back into the {groove}

Today was the first truly bright and sunny day in a long time. And heavens, did I need it. Sometimes it takes something like...I don't know...the sun...to kick you right back into the groove of things. I've been very much out of the groove. I realized today as the beauty was so apparent around me that I haven't made anything (besides toast and freshly printed homework assignments) in a long time.

So. This is me back into the groove. It feels good. Thanks, sun.

Today I smile at this perfect and sweet father-and-son collaboration.

Purl Soho

Purl Soho in New York City is hiring, and they posted these pictures to lure us in. I'll be lucky to ever step foot into this store, let alone become a part of the team. I'm thinking yarn could be a cool way to fill shelves (and it's practical, too).

A {cover} or a dress?

Lemlem® Marta dress

The new arrivals at J.Crew are just lovely. But then again, what else is new? I spotted this as a beach cover up, but can I just wear it as a dress this summer? I'll even wear a little slip.

I promise I prefer the cold over the hot; for the first time, I'm anticipating summertime with open arms...envisioning myself in that dress.

Happy Weekend.

i’ve been thinking of doing this for a while now. after i saw this floating around, i wanted to make my own version to hang on my wall. and knowing me, well, i had to make it all ~shnazzy~ so i made this 11x17 poster. i made it so you can download yourself one too, if you like. it’s a nice PDF file so you can take that to Kinko’s and blow it up and hang it nicely in your room or whateva.

Excuse me, happy long weekend. That's better. Here are my plans:

1. Make this for my bathroom and something similar to this for my front door.
2. Bake these for the hundredth time. (They are the definition of simple.)
3. Talk myself out of buying frivolous and unnecessary things like this and also these.
4.  Wish some more that I was strolling down the streets with Fred Dear while watching this.
5. And, because of the recent foot of snow outside my window, hang out in these favorites as much as possible.

Favorites

When I discover a song I love, I tend to listen to it about 80 times a day. Folks, my life is hectic...but sweet songs like these remind you to slow down, breathe, and grin a little.

Holy macrol.

Speaking of commitments and self improvement (new years resolutions), check out this dude's blog devoted to his future wife, whoever she is.

Happy New Year + happy glitter cookies!

Heavens, have I neglected this lovely little blog during the holidays. I vow to be better next year. In the meantime, though, celebrate with sparklies and make these fabulous treats.

Yum.

Hucklebones

I always catch myself dreaming of my (nonexistent) curly-headed babies. When I see the frizzies on a little boy or girl perched in a grocery cart at Trader Joe's, my heart almost melts. If you've had an up-close experience with my crazies, you'd understand that my offspring will undoubtedly, too, have a bit of a mop atop their heads. 'Tis not a curse, but a blessing to be a bit unlike your friends and peers.

So naturally, I stared at this sweet photo shoot for a while. Then I noticed how equally wonderful Hucklebones (the European children's clothing line behind it all) is too. I mean, I'd wear everything she's got on...

Happy Everything

To my sweet readers, happy Winter. Happy December. Happy gift-wrapping and last-minute shopping and humming jolly tunes in the shower. Happy eating; happy napping. Happy babies and happy traditions. Happy love. Happy heart-yearning for things of the past. And happy orange snowflakes.
